And we find all his efforts and directions and urges to survive were in the direction of being better and making things better. They kept coming up, coming up. And that direction—up—there’s no ceiling. There evidently is no top.
In other words, the human race can lift itself by its own bootstraps.
If you try to make him worse in order to make him better, you always fail. If you just relax about the whole thing and credit your fellow man with a willingness to do these various things, a great oddity occurs: You inevitably make him better.
